Objectives & Accreditation:
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- Identify prevention and treatment of altitude illness based on an understanding of the underlying physiology
- Recognize and properly manage frostbite in the field
- Identify and treat hypothermia in the field
- Identify fracture and dislocation in the wilderness
- Identify the pathophysiology, and treatment of heat-related illness
Target Audience: Primary care physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and other health care providers who might encounter patients in remote settings or who may treat patients that develop medical problems after visiting remote areas. No outside commercial support has been received for this activity.
ACCREDITATION

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) and Wilderness and Travel Medicine, LLC. The Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians
Credit Designation: The Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) designates this live activity for a maximum of 39.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This activity is anticipated to offer up to 39.00 hours of AOA Category 2-A CME credit, pending approval by the AOA.

Physician Assistants:The American Association of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 CME approval from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

All participants receive 23.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for the Main Course.
Participants taking the optional AWEP™ workshop will receive an additional 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Participants taking the optional Wound Management workshop will receive an additional 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Participants taking the optional Practical Splinting workshop will receive 1.25 additional AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
Participants taking the optional Ultrasound Skills workshop will receive an additional 4 AMA PRA Category 3 Credits™.
Participants taking the optional Travel Intel & Improvised Care workshop will receive an additional 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Participants taking the optional Learn to Assess and Reduce Fractures & Dislocations workshop will receive an additional 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Participants taking the optional Backcountry Dentistry: Tricks of the Trade workshop will receive an additional 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
You can earn a maximum of 39.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by taking the AWEP Workshop with the Main Course.
