Advanced Wilderness & Expedition Provider (AWEP CERTIFICATION®) Course

A comprehensive course leading to AWEP Certification that is designed to prepare physicians and other health care providers with an extensive background in key topics and practical skills needed to become a competent expedition, wilderness, or Search and Rescue Medical Provider. OPTIONAL PRE-CONFERENCE: GLOBAL HEALTH / HUMANITARIAN MEDICINE SYMPOSIUM

Humanitarian Medicine overlaps in a large way with Wilderness Medicine because both often involve rendering health care in remote or austere environments with minimal equipment and supplies. The symposium will focus on ways to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian strategies for relief, protection and prevention. Learn more about the symposium.

OPTIONAL INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

The conference has unique optional hands-on workshops on topics ranging from outdoor survival skills to practical wilderness medical skills. Small interactive groups with outstanding instructors. Learn more about our useful hands-on workshops.

INSPIRATIONAL EVENING PROGRAMS

Accreditation

The Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) designates this live activity for a maximum of 46.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Pending approval, this activity is also anticipated to offer AOA Category 2-A CME credit and AAFP/ACEP credit.

The American Association of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 CME from organizations accredited by the ACCME. This course is also accredited for up to 46.50 hours of nursing credit.

Traveling to Santa Fe

Albuquerque (ABQ) has excellent air service, is a short drive from Santa Fe, and is easy to fly to from any city in the USA.  Flying directly to Santa Fe (SAF) is also possible.  Wilderness Medicine has negotiated discounts on airline fares and car rentals for conference attendees.  Learn more.
